Lip Blush Aftercare

After Procedure (the first 3 days):

For the first 3 days after the procedure, please, brush your teeth gently and without any harsh toothpaste
While eating, please do so carefull, and avoid lips to be touching food and/or utensils
Avoid soups, messy sauces, any hot beverages or spicy foods
Drink through a straw and avoid any alcohol
No kissing
No gym or heavy sweating
Start the antiviral treatment against cold sores, immediately after the procedure and continue taking it for 5-6 days (more about this in the next pages)

After Procedure:

For the first 3 days after the procedure, please, gently wipe or blot the lips with damp cotton disk every 2-3 hours.
And apply thin layer of cream after each and every wipe.
Continue applying cream from day 3 till day 7, as a thin layer, if the lips feel dry.
Avoid saunas, pools, swimming, sun bathing, workouts, heavy sweating or really wetting the lips until all the scabs have fallen off.
Do not pick at or pull the scabs. Let them fall off naturally.
When the lips are fully healed, (after day 14 or so), you can start using a sun block of SPF 30-100, to avoid premature fading of the pigment.

Healing Stages:

Lips can remain swollen up to 2-7 days after procedure.
After initial session, colour fades up to 30-60%.
Touch up is always required 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure.
On day 3-5, the scabbing starts and continues till day 7-10.
The colour is lightest when the scabs fall off.
Around week 3-4 after the initial procedure, the colour blooms, and we are able to access how much more colour to deposit at touch up.
After touch up, lip blush lasts 18-24 months (depending on colour shade chosen). After which yearly touch ups are advised for colour longevity.

Cold Sores and Prevention:

Have you ever had cold sores?
If you had a cold sore even once in your life time, the procedure can trigger an outbreak during the healing process (usually on day 3-5)
Ask you physician to prescribe you one of the following in a pill form, before coming in for lip blush:

  • Acyclovir
  • Valtrex
  • Valaciclovir

As soon as the procedure is done, please start taking the prescription for 5-6 days
If you still ended up having a small appearance of cold sores, please use the cold sore bandages locally, only on top of the cold sore.
